Embodied Doula Trainings

The awakening and embodiment of the next generation of doulas.

Embodied Doula Trainings

We are not your average doula training organization.

Why?

EDT was founded by doulas who have been in the birth world for a decade or more, and who have witnessed the disservice the doula training “industry” does to new and experienced doulas alike.

We were tired of seeing new doulas give up on this powerful work before they even had a chance to get started.

We were tired of surface level content, endless certification hoops, little to no regard for inclusivity, and no support post-training.

We know that doulas today want and deserve BETTER from their training org.

This is where EDT comes in to support you in awakening your calling to support pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

Why EDT?

Embodied

Learn the Embodied Method of doula work, as a birth doula, postpartum doula, or childbirth educator.

You will walk away from our training knowing:

+how to support the inner and outer psychospiritual aspects of birth and parenting
+how our mammalian biology & our nervous system impact these experiences
+how sexuality is inherent in the experience of family-making
+how to support your client’s mind, body, & spirit

Meaningful

Receive an unmatched, comprehensive guidebook, curriculum, & training. Complete certification with EDT and it’s yours for a lifetime, no recertification necessary.

Learn valuable information on how to find clients, build your business, support your community, & practice your calling with integrity & confidence.

Train as a birth or postpartum doula, a childbirth educator, or all three! No matter which path you choose, you will receive a life-changing training that will leave you energized to get to work

Intentional

Ongoing support and mentorship beyond your training:

+monthly mentorship calls or expert speakers
+virtual community
+continuing education opportunities

Space to explore who you are as a doula and a person:

+your history, experience, and unique gifts
+your biases, privilege, or lack of privilege
+your community, clientele, and reason for embodying this work

Overall I had I really amazing experience with Zoë (trainer)! She made the setting very real. I would love to take more classes and train with her on the regular. I enjoyed the other students as well. I love how open everyone was and shared different personal experiences. Postpartum was more emotionally intimate. I learned so much about myself while sharing experiences with the other students. I feel very confident in my new doula career.

I really appreciate the approach of evidence and body autonomy being brought together. I'm glad it was a safe space to talk about situations that may be hard. Overall it was a calm, safe, encouraging training. In the postpartum training, I enjoyed the holistic information combined with evidence, and felt it was very thorough and extensive.

I did want to give my feedback of my in-person weekend training with Sam Davis (trainer). It was a wonderful experience and I walked away inspired to embark on my doula journey. Sam is a perfect fit for the training role because of her passion, enthusiasm, empathy, and extensive knowledge of the birth world. The program covered a lot in two days, and I was excited to gain so much knowledge in such a short amount of time. I really appreciated the inclusivity of the program and the flexibility EDT offers its students in their practices--this is really what drew me to the program initially. I look forward to being a forever student of EDT, and I thank you for creating this space of support and knowledge. I'm truly inspired by what you're doing!

My favorite part about training was learning so much! Loved how the instructors (Zoë Etkin & Kaila Matthews) really took time to explain everything in depth. Also~hands on! <3 This training was such an amazing experience! I learned so much and feel like I am set up with all the right tools to start my doula journey! I am so glad Memphis has this organization. Zoë and Kaila are both wonderful teachers.

My favorite part was interacting with like-minded women with a similar interest in evolving in the doula world. I loved the small class setting. This class was amazing. It gave so much insight and enhancement of things I didn't know. My group of women was awesome! They are going to go far! Can't wait to work with them. This [postpartum] training opened so many doors. I've learned more than I anticipated. It has given me some grounded knowledge to take to clients. I loved creating connections and possible business partnerships. This has just been a wonderful experience.

My favorite part of the training was hearing the other student stories and stories from Zoë. My least favorite part was the ending--I wanted it to continue so I can learn more and more! I had an amazing time of learning and sharing at the EDT pp training. I know I will have so much to offer as well as so many resources to offer as I begin to walk with families through their postpartum experience.

October '21 Memphis Postpartum Training

The (birth) course content was presented in a fun, clear, and concise manner. Thanks for the opportunity to network, ask questions, and walk through real life experiences. The (postpartum) training covered a vast set of topics in a rich and engaging way. The presentation of the information reached the different learning styles (hands on, visual, auditory), videos and online resources, review and discussion of book for reading and writing.

October '21 Birth & PP Trainings in Memphis

My favorite part of training was being able to role play. Helped me not be nervous and gave me more confidence in knowing what to do and say. I also love that we talked more than going off a powerpoint. Overall, I learned so much that I didn't know before. I was excited about beginning this journey and I thought I had everything figured out (somewhat) but after today I know so much more! Everything was great!
