Our Foundations Birth Doula Training is all you need to initiate your career supporting families through pregnancy and birth.

We feel the time is now to let go of the old doula education paradigm and usher in the training and mentorship that the next generation of doulas deserves.
Therefore, we have centered our birth doula training on the topics and techniques that the doulas of today need, all with the goal of better supporting parents birthing in our current birth reality.
In this training, you’ll leave confident in knowing:
+who you are as a doula (who your clients are, what your biases are, what your strengths and gifts are)
+the history and cultural context of birth support, medicalized birth, and birth outcomes in the US
+how to advocate for your clients, especially in light of covid-19’s impact on hospital birth and patient rights
+the Embodied Method of doula work (which includes understanding the inner landscape of birth, our human animality, the nervous system, and the sexuality of birth)
+common pregnancy concerns and comforts
+the birth process, comfort measures, and interventions
+how to conduct prenatal visits, what it’s like to be on call, how to support during the birth
+how to start your business and find clients
+so much more!

Included in tuition is your certification packet. In this packet, we have forms and exercises you will complete to receive your lifetime certification. The packet will be sent the week after your training takes place. See below for requirements.
Brand New Doula
+Attend our Foundations Birth Doula training
+Document attendance of 3 births
+Submit your client contract or proof of liability insurance
+Read and respond to reading list books/articles
+Create a resource list
+Give your thoughts on two client scenarios (written or recorded)
+Complete a business plan
+Submit 3 client experience surveys
+Attend 2 of the following classes/observation options (CBE, bodyfeeding, parenting, perinatal mental health, Pelvic Floor PT)
+Schedule your certification review meeting with an EDT leader
+Once submitted and reviewed, receive your lifetime certification!
Cross Training/Retraining
+Attend our Foundations Birth Doula training
+Document attendance of 1 birth you supported prior to training, and 2 births after training
+Submit your client contract or proof of liability insurance
+Read and respond to reading list books/articles
+Give your thoughts on two client scenarios (written or recorded)
+Submit 3 client experience surveys (1 can be from birth before training)
+Schedule your certification review meeting with an EDT leader
+Once submitted and reviewed, receive your lifetime certification!
